The Department of Chemistry at Krishna Chandra College is rooted in academic rigor and supporting students in the achievement of their academic and professional goals.

The journey from a small department teaching undergraduate students in 1958 (General Course) and 1962 (Honours Course) to present status actively engaged in promoting a culture of creativity in classrooms and laboratories is a result of coordinated effort of dedicated faculty. The department has contributed immensely in the college being achieved at this stage. Once the College was designated as College of Chemistry. Now the department strives to achieve its prime objective - to produce and train technical and scientific personnel of the highest order of excellence having scientific aptitude.

    Interdisciplinary courses offered: Environmental Studies for all students

    Annual/ semester/choice based credit system (programme wise):

    1. Annual System is followed as prescribed by the affiliating Burdwan University upto the session 2016-17.
    2. From the academic session 2017-18 CBCS will be followed as prescribed by the UGC and Affiliating University.

    Library: A well-stocked digitized central library and a departmental library are available for free access to students and teachers of the department.  

    Laboratory: In the Department of Chemistry have two well equip Laboratories for Honours and General Courses.

    Internet facilities for Staff &Students:

    1. Wi-Fi facility is available for students and staff in college campus.
    2. Internet facility is available in departmental computer.
