The department of Bengali Language and Literature has a long prestigious heritage and it has been working continuously to explore and expand human resource in its multiforus potentiality and manifestation by various ways of learning and intellectual activities. This department was known as the department of Modern Indian Languages

Annual/ semester/choice based credit system (programme wise):
- Annual System is followed as prescribed by the affiliating Burdwan University upto the session 2016-17.
- From the academic session 2017-18 CBCS will be followed as prescribed by the UGC and Affiliating University.
