Report on the Youth Parliament Competition (YPC)

To promote democratic values and citizen awareness the Government of West Bengal organizes the Youth Parliament Competition. In the year 2022 also, the government organized the competition. Krishna Chandra College enthusiastically participated in the event. The pre-event meeting was held in the District Magistrate’s office in Suri on 25.08.2022 to chalk out the modalities of the upcoming competition. The college was represented in the meeting by Mr. Salauddin Shaikh and Dr. Sumit Howladar. Since the event consists of various sorts of competitions like Mock Parliament, Quiz Competition, Quiz Competition (Character Building), Extempore Speech Competition. After careful screening a total of 15 students were selected for participating in the Mock Parliament Competition, 1 (one) student was selected for the extempore speech competition, and 4 students were selected for the Quiz Competition. The venue for the Mock Parliament Competition was Bolpur College and the date of the programme was 22.08.2022 and for the Quiz Competition the venue was the Department of Distance Education, Burdwan University where the event took place on 22.09.2022. It is a matter of joy and pride for the college that Ms. Mandira Mandal and Mr. Aniruddha Bandopadhyay jointly secured second position in the Quiz Contest on Character Building and Mr. Satyajit Ghosh and Mr. Abhi Paul jointly secured second position in the Quiz Competition. Even in the Mock Parliament Competition, the team secured third position among the competing teams. The act of participation was another good learning experience for the team, mentors, and the institution at large.
