Psychological Cell

At Krishna Chandra College, Hetampur, Birbhum, we prioritize the mental health and well-being of our students. It is common for a student to encounter various stresses in college life, such as academic pressures, social adjustments, and personal challenges. The Psychological Cell plays a crucial role in ensuring that students have access to the support they need, which is why we have established a dedicated Psychological Counselling Cell with a certified Psychologist and faculty as its members. This initiative aims to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where students can seek help for various personal and academic challenges.
A psychological cell in college is not just about addressing mental health issues after they arise, but it is also about creating an overall supportive environment that encourages well-being. With the increasing awareness of mental health in recent years, the presence of such a facility is vital for the holistic development of students, ensuring they have the tools to succeed not only academically but also emotionally and socially.

Vision:
Our vision is to create a campus environment where students are empowered to understand and manage their mental health effectively. It will focus on fostering a culture of emotional resilience, inclusivity, and well-being, where students can thrive both academically and personally.

Mission:

Our Mission is to

Provide Counselling and Support: Offering a confidential space for students to discuss mental health concerns, stress, anxiety, depression, and more.

Promote Mental Health Awareness: Organizing workshops, seminars, and campaigns to educate students and staff about mental health, reducing stigma and encouraging open dialogue.

Create Coping Mechanisms: Assisting students in developing strategies to manage academic stress, personal challenges, and emotional difficulties.

Referral Services: Referring students to professional psychological services if needed, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of care.

This Cell functions to provide the following services:

1. Individual Counselling: Our trained and experienced counsellor is available for one-on-one sessions to help students cope with academic stress, relationship issues, emotional
concerns, or any personal challenges. Whether they are dealing with anxiety, depression, or simply need someone to talk to, we're here to listen and offer guidance.

2. Group Counselling: The Psychological Counselling Cell aims to organise group therapy sessions and peer support groups, where students can engage in discussions, share experiences, and gain collective insights on managing life’s difficulties.

3. Workshops & Awareness Programs: We strive to conduct regular workshops, seminars, and awareness programs to educate students about mental health, stress management, self-care practices, and coping strategies. These programs aim to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and empower students to take charge of their well-being.

4. Stress Management & Coping Techniques: College life can be overwhelming, and we help students develop healthy coping mechanisms to manage academic pressure, time management issues, and life changes. We also teach mindfulness techniques, relaxation exercises, and other strategies for emotional resilience.

5. Crisis Support: In times of emotional distress or crisis, our counsellor and faculty-in –charge are available to provide immediate support. We offer guidance to students experiencing acute stress or mental health crises and ensure they receive the appropriate help and referrals when necessary.

6. Confidentiality and Support: All counselling sessions are confidential, providing students with a secure space to talk openly without fear of judgment. The Psychological Counselling Cell is committed to maintaining privacy and offering non-judgmental, empathetic care.
